Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast as a Category 4 storm on Friday, August 25. Here are some ways that you can help.
You can make a donation to The Chapel that will be given directly to relief efforts.
Make a gift online and choose the designation "Hurricane Harvey".
You can also give on your mobile phone by texting any amount to 716-333-5511 and choosing the designation for Hurricane Harvey that appears in the list.
Checks can be made payable to The Chapel, and please write "Harvey Relief" on the memo line. You can mail checks to our Finance Office at 500 CrossPoint Parkway, Getzville, NY 14068.
We have developed a strong partnership with Eight Days of Hope, an organization that has been able to provide great support to disaster relief efforts throughout the country through the mobilization of the church. Eight Days of Hope has been connected to church partners of ours in the Houston area through the Houston Church Planting Network (hcpn.org/relief) and Christ Together (christtogether.org). As a result, we are looking to mobilize people through Eight Days of Hope as a primary method. They have been on the ground since emergency response efforts began and have the ability to transport, feed and house thousands of volunteers while there. If you can get to Houston, they take care of the rest – including picking you up from the airport!
If you are interested in going to Houston, your next step is to read the Frequently Asked Questions related to this specific relief effort. In addition, we have attached a video that describes what a typical emergency response effort looks like through Eight Days of Hope. If you decide to proceed, please follow the instructions noted in the link below and sign up through their website (eightdaysofhope.org). They will take care of the rest!
Sign up to our Harvey Relief mailing list, and you will receive updates and opportunities as they develop.
