Growing up, I don’t remember felling like I needed God. Things were great. I had a loving family, great friends, and not a care in the world. And although those circumstances haven’t changed, my eyes have been opened to my need for God. I have seen and continue to see the grace of God in so many areas of my life. When I was about 13 years old, God got ahold of my heart at a youth group I had been attending – not because I was struggling, or in a tough family situation, or battling a drug addiction. God got ahold of my heart simply by displaying himself in others and allowing me to see His love through them. One of the major reasons I am in student ministry today is because my Youth Pastor showed me that Church is not a bunch of do’s and don’ts, but is something far greater than that. I learned that we don't need to conform to a Christian mold where we all look and act the same; that we’ve all been uniquely created with different personalities that should be not suppressed, but expressed for the betterment of the body of believers. I didn't fully understand it all at that age, but that didn't stop me from learning. I got my hands dirty and began to try and live out this faith I heard so much about. I didn't always get it right, but I learned a lot faster by trying to put feet to my faith instead of hoping they would grow on their own. And that’s still were I am today. I don't always get it right, but I would rather be in the game than standing on the sidelines. Being the High School Music and Event Coordinator, you can probably guess that I love working with high school students. If I can give just one student the same experience I had growing up, then it’s worth it. It’s an incredible opportunity to walk alongside students as they make the decision to follow Christ, and then to watch them go into their homes, schools, and neighborhoods to inspire those around them to do the same. The years spent in high school are some of the most formative in our lives, and it’s my hope that these students can live authentic, integrity filled lives as they express the love of Christ to all those they come in contact with.
More about me
You can find me mostly at thrift stores or garage sales. I love Buffalo and their sports teams! I’m no bandwagon fan – I will forever be a fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, regardless of their performance.
