COMMUNITY GROUP LEADER HANDBOOK
Christ-like Relationships
Phil 2:3-8, John 13:34-35, Hebrews 10:24-25
Christ-like relationships are best understood by looking at the life of Jesus and how he lived and interacted with others. From that understanding, we can learn to live as Christ lived and love as Christ loved. In order to do this, we are called to encourage, sharpen, and be consistent in meeting together.
1. How can you as a leader create a more welcoming environment for your member?
2. What are some activities and practices you can organize to help build deeper relationships between members?
Missional Activity
Matt 28:18-20, Mark 10:45, Matt 5:14-16, Romans 10:14-15
Our mission is big yet focused. We are committed to ensuring that every man, woman, and child has repeated opportunities to see and hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our example of this. In order for people to see and hear, we must live out our faith in word and deed.
1. Why is sharing the gospel important?
2. How can you help group members be more comfortable sharing the Gospel?
3. What are some ways you can see your future group serving together?
Bible-Centric, Message-Based Discussions
2 Tim 3:16-17, Matt 7:24-25, Hebrews 13:17, Phil 4:9
The primary reason we use Bible-centric, message-based discussions in community groups is to create alignment across the church and simplify the curriculum for Community Groups to encourage the application of God’s word into our lives.
1. What are some ways you can help keep your group's conversations on topic?
2. Why is it important for the Bible to be central to your group's discussions?
3. Are there any specific topics you would want to discuss with your Community Group? How can Chapel Plus help with that?
Consistent Leadership
John 13:12-17, Titus 1:7-9, 1 Timothy 4:16
Consistent leadership is critical to the “success” of a community group. While the role may vary in form, Community Group leaders follow Christ’s example by serving the people in their group. Consistent means putting your “yes” on the table in terms of commitment to showing up, investment in relationships, and maturity in Christ.
1. What are some attributes of a leader that stand out to you from Titus? Are there any specific areas that you could use growth in?
2. In talking about living above reproach, what is Jay's encouragement to us? And how does he say to best do that?
3. What are some ways you are excited to help people in your group grow? Or ways you can encourage growth in your group as a whole?
Additional Training
1. Why are expectations and accountability important for your Community Group?
2. Why is empowering leaders so important?
