Compensation: $10,500-$12,000 (3 Days Per Week); $17,500-$19,500 (5 Days Per Week)
I. Summary of Position
This position is responsible for the care, instruction, and spiritual development of students in the Chapel Preschool classroom, delivering curriculum that meets New York State Department of Education requirements while integrating the faith-based curriculum of The Chapel.
II. Principal Accountabilities
1. Detailed plan book outlining curriculum implementation and daily schedule, including preparation of all classroom projects, crafts, resources, examples, etc. before class begins. Work with a teacher’s aide who may assist with this preparation during the school year.
2. Provide completed syllabus before orientation and monthly calendar before the following month begins.
3. Coordinate purchases of specific needs for the class, with director’s approval. Follow proper purchasing procedures and policies.
4. Communication with director regarding concerns relating to students, student’s family, teacher aides (if applicable), curriculum, or anything that will affect the preschool. Director must know, in advance, if evaluations for special needs will be requested/suggested of parents.
5. Have consistent communication with parents of participating children. Frequently (i.e. daily) check Chapel emails, including weekends during the school year. It is expected that emails and phone calls will be answered immediately.
6. Participate in all staff meetings, preschool events (including after school, evenings and during the summer), and team building events.
7. Promote an environment that supports and reflects the mission of The Chapel in ensuring every man, woman and child within our circle of accountability have repeated opportunities to hear and see the gospel of Jesus Christ.
8. Promote an environment that supports and reflects the staff culture of The Chapel: seek God as priority; think others first; choose trust; stay healthy; grow together.
9. Maintain internal control standards for compliance, operational risk, regulatory standards, policies and practices; report issues and operational loss events to senior leadership and/or governance board, where appropriate. Abide by human resources and other Chapel policies in support of an ethical, respectful and God-honoring work environment.
10. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
III. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
This position requires an individual with:
1. Minimum of two (2) years proven teaching experience in a preschool environment or elementary school. References required.
2. Minimum of Certification in Early Childhood Education or related experience, current CPR/AED Certification (within 2 years).
3. Organizational skills necessary to coordinate and manage student body and classroom responsibilities. Must be self- motivated and a team player. Must be patient with children, creative to engage children, empathetic to children and parents’ needs.
4. Basic computer skills are required and willingness to develop skills of technology systems.
5. Proven faithfulness to Christ in use of time, talent and treasures; meets all biblical requirements of a leader and influencer within the church body.
6. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Well-developed verbal communication skills. Ability to influence and lead in classroom environment as well as address and resolve conflict where appropriate.
