Community Group Study Notes
- Have someone in your group give a brief recap of Sunday’s message, highlighting the primary Scripture points and the main idea of the message.
- How did this message strengthen and/or correct your previous ideas about choosing for yourself whom you will serve? Was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you? Did you learn anything new about God or yourself this week?
- Who have you chosen to serve? If you have yet to choose the Lord Jesus Christ, what is stopping you? What idols have captured your affection?
- What are some of your favorite stories from the Bible where God was faithful to his promises?
- Share a story of when God was faithful to his promise(s) in your life. How does this encourage you to revere him and serve him with all faithfulness?
- What idol(s) do you need to bury, if any? What do you need to surrender to God so that your affections are solely on Him? Examples shared on Sunday include material (e.g., nature, things, technology, people), ideological (e.g., money, sex, power), and self.
- As you chose to faithfully serve Jesus Christ, how do you see this benefitting your family, friends, neighbors, and others?
- What action step do you need to take in response to this week’s message? How can your group hold you accountable to this step?
Action Step
- If you have an idol in your life, repent and choose to serve the Lord with all faithfulness.
- For each day this week, pray to God your choice to faithfully serve Him wherever He leads you and in whatever He asks of you.
